Dr. Cristian Călin is Director of Green Gas Programs and Decarbonization Solutions at Delgaz Grid (part of the E.ON group) - the biggest integrated gas and power distribution company from Romania, that distributes natural gas to the northern half of Romania and electricity to six counties in eastern Romania. Since 2021, he is the responsible for setting strategic directions and implementation of green gas technologies and other decarbonization solutions in the natural gas distribution sector.
He coordinated the 20HyGrid project- the first pilot project developed for the first time in Romania by Delgaz Grid, in which a mixture of natural gas and 20vol.% hydrogen was used and tested on current distribution networks and customers' natural gas utilization facilities/apparatus without any modification. Having a professional activity of over 27 years and management experience of over 16 years, within Delgaz Grid, he implemented the most important technologies in the technical field and coordinated strategic projects, including projects cofinanced with European funds.
He is amember/observer, representing Delgaz Grid, in professional associations: GERG (Gas European Research Group); Ready4H2; Romanian Hydrogen Association and various working groups for distribution networks, hydrogen, biomethane and Romania's hydrogen strategy, set up within the Ministry of Energy etc. Ensure the relationship with state institutions (Ministry of Energy, Regulatory Authority) and strategic companies, on the topic of the green gases and decarbonization solutions.
Dr. Călin graduated the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering; Master in Applied Electrochemistry; Doctoral studies in the field of corrosion and corrosion protection, within “Babes-Bolyai” University from Cluj-Napoca.
