Dr Stefan Kaufmann was appointed Innovation Commissioner for Green Hydrogen at the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research in June 2020. The experienced education and research policy maker cooperates with stakeholders from politics, industry and research to advance the implementation of Germany‘s National Hydrogen Strategy. He is a permanent guest on the State Secretaries’ Committee for Hydrogen and on the National Hydrogen Council. From 2009 to 2021, the fully qualified lawyer represented his Stuttgart constituency as a directly elected member of the German Bundestag. In Parliament, Dr Kaufmann served as chair of the Study Commission “Vocational Training in the Digital Work Environment” and CDU/CSU spokesperson on the Committee on Education, Research and Technology Assessment.
