Stephan Bauer studied civil engineering at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna and graduated in 1996. After several years working as a project manager in civil engineering companies he joined RAG Austria AG in 2008. He managed several projects in the gas storage infrastructure expansion program. In 2012 Stephan Bauer started with the development of inter-seasonal renewable energy storage solutions. He was responsible among others for the Underground Sun Storage (2013-2017), the Underground Sun Conversion (2017-2021) and the Underground Sun Storage 2030 (2019-2024) projects. Since 2018 Stephan Bauer is Head of the Green Gas Technology department at RAG, further developing inter-seasonal renewable energy storage solutions.
