Yelda Guven

Policy VP, ExxonMobil Low Carbon Solutions

Ms. Guven received her bachelor’s degree in economics from Bosphorus University in Istanbul in 1991 and a master’s degree specializing in energy and environment from the School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS), Johns Hopkins University, Washington, D.C. in 1993. Ms. Guven also received an MBA from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. in 2000. She is fluent in English, Turkish, Italian, and has working knowledge of Russian and French.

Before joining ExxonMobil in 1998, Ms. Guven worked as an energy economist for four years at the World Bank in Washington D.C. specializing in the Former Soviet Union. At ExxonMobil Ms. Guven held a number of business advisory and managerial positions of increasing responsibility in Dallas, Fairfax, Houston, Kazakhstan, Washington D.C., and Turkey.

At ExxonMobil, Ms. Guven first worked as a business advisor for the Corporation’s unit responsible for Caspian pipelines, and then in business planning at the Gas and Power Marketing Company’s LNG group. Ms. Guven was named Public and Government Affairs Director for ExxonMobil Kazakhstan Inc. based in Almaty, Kazakhstan in March 2002 and held this position for 4.5 years. In August 2006, she was named the International Government Relations Advisor responsible for Europe, Russia and the Caspian at ExxonMobil’s Washington, D.C. office. In April 2008, Ms. Guven was named the Public Affairs Manager for ExxonMobil Lubricants and Specialties Company, based in Fairfax, Virginia. In August 2009, Ms. Guven was named the Deputy General Manager for ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Turkey B.V. based in Ankara, Turkey for three years. In February 2014, Ms. Guven was named the Eurasia Senior Director, International Government Relations at ExxonMobil’s Washington D.C. office. In January 2021, Ms. Guven added the position of Exxon Mobil Corporation’s Geopolitical Risk Manager to her portfolio. In July 2021, Ms. Guven joined ExxonMobil’s Low Carbon Solutions business as Policy VP, Europe Middle East Africa. Ms. Guven relocated from Washington D.C. to Brussels, Belgium in July 2022.
